Literary Term of the Week: Allusion: a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. (http://literarydevices.net/allusion/) Reviewed all of the literary terms during writing workshop. Students will be tested over the literary terms along with The Outsiders in two weeks. Language Convention of the Week: Punctuating Dialogue. (Be sure to edit your short stories!) Vocabulary: List 5 Test on Monday (10/3) and Tuesday (10/4) Writing: Discussed Quarter 1 Writing Assessment due on Monday (10/3) or Tuesday (10/4). Handwritten or typed. Literature: Students finished reading The Outsiders. We analyzed Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost. *Next Friday marks the end of the first grading period. All make-up work needs to be in by Thursday. Grades will be turned in on Friday morning. Be sure to update your reading portfolio and get your shelfie in! |
